Facts, Trivia, Memories and More about Andy Carey

Highlights

June 1, 1958: Andy goes 5 for 5 with three runs scored, a double, two home runs and four RBI in a 10-4 win over the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The effort helped the Yankees improve their record to 27-10 and backed a complete game effort by Bob Turley who improved to 8-1 on the season.

Memories

Jim H. from Westfield, (State Unspecified) wrote: "Andy Carey had a terrific arm and his style of throwing out the batter on a grounder was different from shortstop Phil Rizzuto. Rizzuto had quick hands and got the ball away quickly, especially noticeable later in his career when his arm strength faded. Carey fielded the ball and almost looked at the label before launching a rocket across the diamond."
