Facts, Trivia, Memories and More about Dell Alston

Transactions

Traded: June 15, 1978: Dell was traded by the Yankees with Mickey Klutts and $50,000 to the Oakland Athletics for Gary Thomasson.

Highlights

July 13, 1977: Dell goes 2-for-2 with his only Yankee home run in a 9-8 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers at County Stadium.  The home run lead off the top of the third off Brewers' starter Jim Slaton, and closed the Brewers' lead to 4-1.  The Yankees trailed 9-3 in the 8th, but rallied for five runs to cut the defecit to one, but that was as close as they would come.

Memories

Danny from John's Creek, GA writes: "I know Dell when he went by Wendell. Went to school with him and played little league baseball with him in Yonkers. He was a great ballplayer in little league. I remember going to the stadium with some friends and Dell packed his pockets with baseballs to give away to many of his friends who came to see him play."
