September 12, 1996: Bernie posts a career best 8 RBI in a 12-3 Yankee victory in Detroit.  Bernie's 3-for-4 effort included two home runs and two walks.  The first home run came in the top of the third with the Yanks trailing 2-0 to Tigers starter Justin Thompson.  The one out three-run blast put the Yankees ahead 3-2.  After the Tigers tied the game in the bottom of the inning, Bernie came up in the 5th with runners on first and second and lined a single to left field to plate Derek Jeter.  His fifth RBI came in the 8th with the Yankees leading 5-3.  Bernie lifted a sacrifice fly to right-center to score Andy Fox from third.  Finally, in the bottom of the ninth, facing Jose Lima with a 6-3 lead, the Yankees poured it on.  Charlie Hayes and Andy Fox connected for back-to-back, one out solo home runs.  Joe Girardi and Ruben Rivera followed with singles and Jeter was hit by a pitch to load the bases.  Paul O'Neill struck out, but Bernie connected off Lima for his fourth career grand-slam (of 11 total) and his third career two home run game (of 18 total.)

June 16, 2006: Bernie looks like the Bernie of old, going 4-for-5 in a 7-5 win over the Nationals in Washington. Bernie's fourth hit, a solo home run off Nats closer Chad Cordero, came in the top of the 9th and broke a 5-5 tie. Bernie also doubled in the Yanks first run in the 1st inning and scored three of his own.

• In Bernie's career, the pitcher he faced most often was Jamie Moyer with 100 plate appearances.  He batted .391 with 7 HR (most against any other pitcher) and 19 RBI (also the most against any pitcher.)  He also had more doubles (10) and hits (34) against Moyer than any other pitcher.
