and Game Five tied at 2-2, Tom Tresh followed singles by Tony Kubek and Bobby
Richardson with a three-run home run off the Giants' Jack Sanford. The

scored.
October 12, 1964: In the critical fifth game of the 1964
World Series with the series tied, the Yankees were shutout by Bob Gibson
heading into the ninth inning at Yankee Stadium. Mickey Mantle started the
inning by reaching on an error. After Elston Howard struck out and Joe
Pepitone grounded out, Tom Tresh connected on a two-run home run to tie the
game. Unfortunately, a three-run home run by Tim McCarver quickly followed
in the top of the 10th and the Yankees went on to lose the game and eventually,
the Series.
