Facts, Trivia, Memories and More about Dick Tettelbach

Transactions

February 8, 1956: Dick was traded by the New York Yankees with a player to be named later, Lou Berberet, Herb Plews and Bob Wiesler to the Washington Senators for Bobby Kline and Mickey McDermott. The New York Yankees sent Whitey Herzog (April 2, 1956) to the Washington Senators to complete the trade. Yes...the same Whitey Herzog who went on to become a Hall of Fame manager.

Notes

  • Paul from Wading River pointed out that a scorecard from September 1955 listed Dick Tettelbach as wearing #43. This site previously listed him as wearing #44, which is what most sources also show.   However, Marv Throneberry was wearing #44 at that time. Most sources incorrectly show Throneberry wore #41, but that was worn all season by Bob Cerv.
