Facts, Trivia, Memories and More about Shane Spencer

Highlights

August 7, 1998: Shane goes 5-for-5 with two home runs, two doubles, three RBI and four runs scored in a 14-2 rout of the Kansas City Royals at Yankee Stadium.  The offensive outburst by the Yankees featured 18 total hits, including three each by Luis Sojo, Tim Raines and Jorge Posada.  David Wells went all the way on a 6 hit, no walk, four strikeout effort to improve his record to 14-2 on the season.

September 24, 1998: Shane smacks a sixth inning grand slam, his third grand slam of the season, off Tampa Bay's Wilson Alvarez to turn a 2-1 defecit into a 5-2 Yankee lead.  That was also the final score as a Yankee bullpen combo of Mike Buddie, Graeme Lloyd, Jay Tessmer and Jeff Nelson in relief of starter David Wells (a short outing resting up for the playoffs) would combine for four innings of one hit, one walk, three strikeout baseball.  The win was the 111th of the season, tying the 1954 Cleveland Indians for most wins by an AL team.
