Ann from Saluda, SC wrote: "Our high school senior class went on our senior trip to Washington DC and NYC in spring 1965. We had free time for one of the days and I wanted to go see the Yankees play baseball. My favorite player was Bobby but I also liked Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Whitey Ford, and Yogi Berra. All the other girls in our class wanted to have their hair done, see the Peppermint Lounge, and shop. Luckily, our chaperones wanted to see a game too; so I was very happy I got to see my Yankees play with all my favorite players. I saw Bobby at a book signing years ago and this story impressed him. After major league he coached at my college, THE University of SOUTH CAROLINA and he has spoken at special events which I have been able to attend. Love this guy for his God loving life and as a GREAT BASEBALL PLAYER!"

I saw him once after he left baseball at a revival (something I haven't done before or since). But I've always thought of him as a good and spiritual man. And a great ballplayer who never got the recognition that he deserved."
