Tom from Suwanee, GA wrote: "I met Sherm Lollar when I was about 11 years old. I went to school with his two boys, Pete and Kevin. (Kevin and I were in the same class). One of the highlights of my life, growing up in Springfield, Missouri, was watching Game 3 of the 1963 World Series with the Lollar family, with Sherm sitting alongside us kids, predicting the pitches called by the catchers. I was totally overwhelmed to be sitting in the same room, eating submarine sandwiches and watching a World Series game with a current major leaguer. And, Sherm was a pretty fair catcher in the early 60s for the Chicago White Sox. He held most catching records for the Chisox until Carlton Fisk left Boston for the White Sox. This was the series where the Dodgers swept the Yankees in four games. I will never forget that day. In addition, Sherm coached our Boys Club basketball team later that same fall. Finally, Sherm's boys were good athletes, too. Pete was all-state in basketball and Kevin all-state in football, both while attending Glendale High School."
