Highlights

October 8, 1956: Don hurls the first perfect World Series game against the Brooklyn Dodgers in a pivotal Game 5.  Don threw 97 pitches and struck out seven, including pinch-hitter Dale Mitchell to end the game.  The Yankees went on to win the series in seven games and Don took home series MVP honors, despite a shaky Game Two start where he didn't make it out of the second inning.

Trivia

  • Everyone remembers Don for his 1956 World Series perfect game. Many forget that Don appeared in three games in the 1962 World Series for the Giants against the Yankees, including winning Game 4 in relief.

Tom R. from Manteca wrote: "In 1963 I pitched for the East Bay Giant Rookie team and we were issued all Giants hand me down uniforms. I got a pair of Don Larsons pants, size 40 and my waist was 34. My Mom had to take them in 3 in. On each side. No big deal to you folks but a memory of a lifetime for me...only pitcher to ever pitch a perfect game in the World Series."
